Wheeling Gateway Competition

The Crossroads is a concept to createa landmark and gatway into the cityof Wheeling, IL by sinking the existing traffic pattern to go under a pedestrian plaza marked by a lowreaching steel and glass strucutre, thus sending traffic back into the ground and emphasizing the pedestrian ground plain. The low strucuture is to create a strcutre that responds to the density and heightof the praire lands and a geometry that responds to the lines of thestreets. A plaza that connects the intersection first and secondly a gateway to the autmotive commuter.
